Coromandel - Kauaeranga Valley to Port Jackson
Day of Trip = 28
2240 Km
Saturday 26th January 2012
Hmm its already day 28 of our trip! We planned to be in the south island by now. Too bad we are having so much fun in the north island! And we haven't mentioned the weather really...think you can guess from the photos that we have had only 1 day of a mild intermittent showers, the rest spectacularly fine! Worst is a bit of wind occasionally, but we are coping.
In Port Jackson we decide to try out sleeping inside the truck as it is a bit windy when we arrive. Pretty cosy and easy now we have the roof rack. Only thing is hiding from the mosquitos is a bit harder without the tents mesh.
Cool campsite, much busier than we thought it would be considering its isolation and gravel access roads. At the very tip of the coromandel peninsula, we get the same rural feel as Cape Reinga. We find a pretty nice spot with sea views and friendly neighbours, only thing is a dusty road that dusts us every so often. Don't mind too much for a cheap $10/pp/night! Hard to choose between this one and Fletcher Bay around the corner. Warmest sea temperature so far :)
